The Contest Must Be Free And Fair else… , Sen Mbu Blows Hot

As the APC, primaries continues across the country, there have been complains from different stakeholders, party members and aspirants alike.

This time a complain is coming from a stakeholder of the All Progressives Congress (APC), in person of Sen Matthew Tawo Mbu, a former Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and also the the immediate past state Chairman of the APC in Cross River State.

Sen Mbu who represented the good people of Cross River Central senatorial district wrote to the Governor of the state after discovering hiccups during the primaries of the Ikom/Boki Federal Constituency.

The Senator who is the leader of the party in Boki Local Government Area has this to say.

Good Evening, Excellency. Please in the interest of peace and fair play as far as Ikom / Boki federal constituency is concerned let all the aspirants go to the field where they fail to produce one person amongst themselves then they go to the field. I have been informed that Sen. Ndoma Egba wants mature to be the crowned aspirant with the claim that he is the leader of the constituency this can’t be . Well that’s his right and opinion but as far as Boki is concerned I am the political leader of my people therefore he can’t decide for the Boki people. All the aspirants are my people and this is why the contest must be free and fair and where they failed to produce one amongst themselves then they can have the contest in the field . We must think and do things that will enable us win the primary election. This is my position. Thank you Excellency and God. Sen. Mbu.

The above statement is coming from the distinguished after watching how the party primaries in his constituency was handled with much impunity.

A situation where a single person will be hand picked as a result of the “power that be” doesn’t go well for the Constituency.

One of the aspirant and a former top Commissioner in the Cross River State government, Chief Jake Otu Enyia said “there was no primaries conducted in the Constituency as far as am concern, the primaries elections remains indefinitely suspended.”

In a related development, most of the aspirants has called on the party to look into the matter critically to avoid litigation as Boki is not a Local Government to toil with.

When reporter spoke with one of the aspirant, she said let’s wait and see how events unfolds in the coming days.
