PRESS RELEASE: ASSU Suspends Strike, Students To Return To Classrooms After 7 months
The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASSU), has officially announced it has called off its strike which have lasted for over seven months.
This was announced in a press release as;
The strike started on 14, February over the controversy on the adoption of the integrated personnel Payroll Information System (IPPIS) of the government as the payment system for the sector.
Their grievances was on the failure of the government to fulfil some of the agreements they reached years ago.
ASUU claims poor funding and government nonchalance is the major problem affecting public schools in the country.
Students are expected to resume lectures with immediate effect.
